If you didn’t read my earlier post about the first day in Florence, you should head over and check that out before continuing this one. (Florence, Italy Day 1)
To start the second full day in Florence, I grabbed an iced latte and cannoli for breakfast because I’m the epitome of health. I walked to Piazza di Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio to see the statues, and wandered through the Museo de Galileo. Fun fact: They have Galileo’s fingers and tooth on display at that museum. They detached them before he was entombed because they thought people 300+ years in the future would want to see that. I didn’t think I would, but I guess it made a sweet talking point, right? I guess they weren’t wrong.
Later, I met up with Jess for another pizza-filled lunch at Ristorante Ricchi in Piazza Santo Spirito and Aperol spritzes at La Terrazza Continentale. We wandered around the rest of the evening taking photos and visiting more markets.
If you keep scrolling, you can see some more shots of the cute courtyard at our Airbnb where we chilled and ate delicious panini’s from a shop down the street. Also, I need to add that even Coca-cola tastes better in Italy. It’s that real-real sugar and now coke here doesn’t taste as good anymore. *first world problems*
I did a little more photojournalistic street photography during this day too and captured some of my favorite photos of tourists and locals. My Fuji X-T2 + 16mm f1.4 combo was my favorite on this trip.
I’m so grateful my job brings me to places like this, even if for just a few days. What are some other places in Florence I should check out next time?
