Intimate Chicago Elopement at Minimalistic & Industrial Venue by Iron + Honey

Elopements, Love

August 12, 2021

To some, they have always wanted a large wedding day. Something much larger and extravagant, while others have turned towards elopements. Elopements are perfect for those looking to have something more intimate with them and their significant other. Frankie & Jarrett chose to elope at this beautiful and unique minimalistic home and the day couldn’t have been more perfect.

The Love Story

Frankie & Jarrett met during grad school a few years ago and became quick friends. They dated for a short period of time during school but then went their separate ways. Years later, their romantic relationship rekindled over rock climbing, and well… the rest was history!

Frankie & Jarrett were inspired to elope because they didn’t want the big day to turn into a stressful event. They didn’t want to coordinate complex logistics and meet expectations, so choosing to elope was a no-brainer for them. They envisioned a small & intimate ceremony that mainly focused on them and their connection. Although these were their wants, they did face some challenges. In fact, managing family expectations seemed to be their largest obstacle. Neither of their families had envisioned not being invited to their child’s wedding. They both had to prepare them for the low-key elopement that they wanted, so they didn’t feel left out.

Minimalistic & Industrial Wedding Venue

Frankie & Jarrett’s favorite part of their entire day was definitely the time spent at their venue. Their ceremony was at a beautiful minimalist home that definitely radiated industrial and natural vibes. They were first attracted to the space due to its cool balance of natural & industrial decor. There were multiple wedding ceremony location possibilities as well, both indoor and outdoor, so they were able to pick the perfect spot on the day they wanted.

The ceremony was an absolute dream. The beautiful florals that accompanied them were from Sola Wood Flowers, which were then dyed and arranged by Frankie & Jarrett themselves. Prior to their ceremony, the day consisted of them having Thai food takeout with their two in-person guests. Frankie & Jarrett had been unable to see them since before the pandemic so they got vaccinated just in time to spend some quality (but safe) time together. Said by Frankie & Jarrett themselves, every part of their special day came together perfectly. The only thing is that maybe Frankie probably should have broken in her heels more before the wedding (words to the wise).

Elopement Advice

Frankie & Jarrett’s words of advice for any couples looking to elope are to JUST DO IT. Save money and focus on each other, which I couldn’t have said any better. Elopements are a perfect way to be able to save a little bit of money, have something smaller and intimate and really focus on you and your partners without the pressures of a large wedding.

As for their honeymoon, Frankie & Jarrett are actually doing a “mini-moon” in the Blue Ridge Mountains to spend some time together. Once everything with the pandemic has slowed down, they are hoping to take an extended trip to Korea (best honeymoon location ever or???).

Overall, this day was magical. As someone who takes wedding photos for a living, it is nice and refreshing to see two people come together and really embrace themselves. They can forget about the usual pressures that come with wedding planning and just focus on their love.
