Outdoor Fall Chicago Wedding at Big Delicious Planet

Weddings

September 9, 2021

When and Amber and Mike inquired about me covering their wedding day I couldn’t have been more excited. As we began discussing their plans for their special day, everything just seemed so perfect. As the day finally approached, plans were being finalized and the nervous jitters were setting in. On the day of the wedding though, the end results were so worth it. Mike and Amber had the most beautiful Outdoor Fall Chicago wedding ever.

The Love Story

Amber and Mike met back in 2015. Amber, who was new to Chicago, had went on her first date with Mike (after many attempts) and they hit it off! Mike began touring Amber around the city, showcasing the wonders behind it all. Not only did Amber fall in love with the city itself, but she fell in love with Mike. From that moment forward, everything else felt like second nature. Their chemistry was almost instant and the joy that they both brought to each other was enough to seal the deal. Mike proposed on Christmas Day in 2018 and well… you know the rest is history.

Chicago Wedding Portraits

Amber and Mike opted for an elopement. Although it wasn’t the original plan, they couldn’t wait to be married. They were so excited to celebrate with their family and friends (via zoom). We started off the day with some photos of the bride and groom getting ready. One thing that’s important for Amber and Mike was to make sure that their adorable cat, Checkers, was involved on their special day. They had an imprint of Checkers paw print taken, so honoring him was a MUST. After getting ready, it was time for their first look! We took some photos in Amber and Mike’s neighborhood through a small alleyway and it was just perfect. Mike’s reaction was priceless! Next, we took some bridal portraits throughout some stunning locations around the neighborhood close to their wedding venue. The photos turned out amazing and the lighting was hitting them so perfectly.

Big Delicious Planet

After those wedding portraits, it was time for the ceremony. Amber and Mike chose to have their ceremony at Big Delicious Planet. This urban farm setting was the perfect spot for Amber and Mike’s ceremony. It’s beautifully decorated and truly is a hidden gem within the hustle and bustle of Chicago. They specifically chose BDP for it’s quaint garden in a very unsuspecting place AND it’s also in their neighborhood which is a good bonus! Amber and Mike also opted for an unplugged ceremony. An unplugged ceremony is perfect for couples who maybe don’t want the distraction in person (or in photos) of their guests snapping photos. Especially if you’re hiring your own wedding photographer, you can trust that we’re able to capture the best photos of your special day!

Cocktail Hour & Dinner

At the end of the ceremony, it was time for cocktail hour and dinner! Since the venue is all outdoors, all of the decor, tables and floral arrangements were under this beautiful pergola. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the sun was still shining through the greenery. It was a real life fairytale and I still can’t get over it to this day.

Amber and Mike’s outdoor Fall Chicago wedding was an absolute dream come true. I’m so honored to help capture these special moments for them too! Congratulations A+M!
