Bring the essence of home cooking to your wedding day with Caroline & Dave for their Chicago Rooftop Wedding at The Hidden Goat.
The Love Story
Caroline and Dave surely know how to have a good time. They originally met through a friend and a co-worker at the Mark II Lounge just a few years ago. This bar in particular is a 4am bar and Caroline and Dave definitely used that time to their advantage. Since that moment, these two have become inseparable. After a few dates, an internship, a visit and graduation they both decided to move to the East Bay nearly a year to the day after they met. Then after 3 years and one adopted dog later, they moved back to Chicago!
In the midst of the pandemic, Dave believed this was the perfect time to pop the question to Caroline. He proceeded to load up on a box of goodies from Sweet Mandy B’s Bakery and hid the ring in the box. Caroline was actually so excited for the treats, she didn’t even notice the ring until Dave dropped to one knee. As you can guess, the rest was history and now here we are!
Getting Ready & The First Look
First, we started off this day with Caroline and her bridesmaids getting ready at the Hoxton Hotel. The interior of this hotel is just beautiful and filled with mid-century modern decor. There was a lot of natural light coming in, but also some opportunity to be creative and play with shadows! Once Caroline was finished getting her hair and makeup done, it was then time to slip into her dress. Can we just have some commotion for how stunning it looks on her though? It’s a strapless lace, boho-style fitted dress with beading and a flutter sleeve. It fit her like a glove and truly looked like it was made JUST for her.
After getting ready, it was then time for the first look. Of course, the first look can be one of the most anticipated and exciting moments throughout the whole day. It’s the moment where you get to see your partner for the first time, in your wedding attire, and all bets are off. Emotions run high, tears start flowing and it’s just a very beautiful moment to witness. Much to no surprise, Caroline and Dave’s was just as beautiful and sentimental. You could see Dave’s face light up and be infatuated with how beautiful Caroline looked. Brb… wiping tears from my keyboard.
West Loop Portraits
Portraits are really the place where we can get creative and really spotlight on the bride + groom. For Caroline and Dave, they really didn’t want to take away from their day too much. We mainly focused on taking their portraits outdoors in the West Loop, within walking distance between the hotel and venue. Wandering around the city are some of my favorite moments for portraits, you’re really able to choose what fits the vibes you’re going for. We got some amazing photos in front of some beautiful mural pieces and greenery and I am in LOVE with how they turned out.
Chicago Rooftop Wedding at The Hidden Goat
After portraits, it was officially time for the ceremony! Their ceremony and reception was at The Hidden Goat, the rooftop venue above Little Goat Diner. A beautiful space that really brings a warm and inviting essence to gather all of your friends and family. Inspired by Chef Stephanie Izard’s love for cooking and entertaining, The Hidden Goat elevates the experience of home cooking. Being at this space made it feel extremely inviting which is why I know Caroline and Dave chose this for their wedding day.
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and filled with so much love and joy. Fun fact, Caroline walked down the aisle to the Avengers theme song. Although seemingly “cheesy” yet VERY cool & unique, it’s incredibly meaningful to her and Dave. They both are obsessed with Marvel movies/shows and it eventually became something special they could share. Caroline and Dave exchanged their own personal vows while Caroline’s brother-in-law was the officiant. They even had Caroline’s “mini bestie” as her flower girl which was the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. I love how involved their families were in the wedding and you could just tell how happy everyone was to be a part of something so special.
The Hidden Goat Wedding Reception
To finish off the night, we moved into the reception where let me tell you… the food? AMAZING! Everything from the decor, to the florals to the lighting was just so perfect. We ended with some speeches, some cake cutting, and the first dance with Caroline and Dave as newlyweds underneath the stars with the city skyline as the backdrop. The outdoor rooftop space at The Hidden Goat is the perfect entertainment space and 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend. I feel so honored to have been there for Caroline and Dave during this special time and more honored to be able to give them photos for them to cherish forever. Cheers to Caroline + Dave!!!
