Fall Chicago Wedding at Bottom Lounge

Weddings

January 3, 2022

Love has no limits, especially for these two. Come experience the beauty that was Maggie and James’ Fall Chicago Wedding at Bottom Lounge.

The Love Story

No matter what your opinion is about online dating, there is one thing that is certain. It brings people together and sometimes (a lot of the times actually) it helps people fall in love. For Maggie & James after meeting online and having their first date at a dive bar here in Chicago, Innertown Pub, the rest was history. Their love has blossomed ever since and right after the pandemic hit, James proposed on a Sunday afternoon with very sweet and intimate proposal on their rooftop. Honestly reminds me of the perfect ending of a Hallmark movie (but in the BEST way possible). With everything that occurred due to the pandemic these past few years, M+J are so excited to tie the knot and officially be married!

Getting Ready & First Look

As always, we began the morning with some amazing detail shots. When working with my couples, I always send out a questionnaire that allows them to check off important details they want photographed. Items such as shoes, jewelry, invitations, letters, rings, etc. Anything that’s meaningful to you I encourage to bring along on your wedding day to make sure that it’s documented! Maggie really wanted to have photos of her shoes which honestly are some of the cutest that I have seen. As well as some accessories, invitations and florals! After detail shots, I always make sure to get some photos of you and your wedding party getting ready. This is an important moment and we should be documenting from beginning to end, am I right?

After putting their final touches, it was officially time for the first look. As to be expected, James was absolutely stunned once he saw Maggie in her gorgeous dress. Maggie was wearing this beautiful mermaid style dress by Maggie Sotero and it looked so amazing on her – I might have died a little. First looks have to be one of my favorite moments to shoot only because of how raw, real and intimate they are.

Fall Chicago Wedding Portraits

Once we finished the first look, we took a quick walk over to the Chicago Theatre for some more portraits. Something about the theatre really gives off those 1950’s elegant glamour type vibes which I think really set the mood for Maggie and James’ wedding day. Following the Chicago Theatre, we made our way to finish our portraits with the rest of the wedding party. Huge shoutout to Reggie’s for having the most epic bus transportation ever and making the ride around Chicago that much more fun. We hopped on the bus and made our way over to Lasalle Street Bridge for some photos by the water. We also made a stop at this beautiful mural location that is filled with tons of color and really stands out in photos. This is one of my favorite locations to shoot at and is a huge fan fave!

Fall Chicago Wedding at Bottom Lounge

After much anticipation, the time finally arrived for us to head to the ceremony. Maggie and James had their ceremony and reception at Bottom Lounge. This venue is the perfect location for anyone looking for something spacious, modern and fun! It is the perfect wedding venue for people looking for a good time and something unique, which is exactly what Maggie and James were going for. They both enjoy music and with the fun and modern feels, this venue served to be the perfect place. Of course we had to utilize the space and take some portraits before heading into the actual ceremony.

Just as beautiful as them, Maggie and James had the most magical ceremony. Surrounded by their close family and friends, everyone was laughing, crying, smiling and just filling the room with so much love. The arch that they stood under during the ceremony was actually built by the maid of honor which I thought was such a sweet and amazing touch. After exchanging vows and saying their I do’s, the two were officially newlyweds – hooray!!

Wedding Reception

Just like the ceremony, the reception was just as much fun. Something about this space really made for the perfect spot to let loose, have fun and I was here for all of it. Can we also take a moment to appreciate the decor and lighting too?? Maggie and James had so much detail put into it and I truly was impressed. From Edison lights to lanterns and candles to even a neon sign with their name on it! They even had a photo booth, which is always one of my favorite things that couples have. These two went all out and I was living for every moment of it.

Speeches, First Dances & Neon Signs

After some speeches, first dance moments and some cake cutting it was then time for the open dance floor. I love it when wedding guests are down for the get down and trust me… these guests KNEW how to party. I made sure to get a few photos of Maggie and James inside their photo booth and in front of their neon sign before heading out. This day was an absolute blast and Maggie and James sure do know how to throw a party. From the amount of detail to overall being such an amazing couple to work with, I couldn’t have had a more fun time even I tried. Thank you M+J for giving me the honor to capture such an amazing moment for you both. Congratulations – cheers!!
