Witness a beautiful love story unfold between Abbey and Shawn as they have the most beautiful Downtown Chicago Wedding at The Duck Inn.

Abbey & Shawn’s Love Story

Abby and Shawn met back in 2011 at a Halloween party through a mutual friend. As soon as they met eyes, it was almost as if there was an instant connection. Gravity pulled them together and for the rest of the night, they were inseparable. Shawn, having to travel across the world the next day for work, reluctantly left Abbey. However, they were able to exchange numbers and keep in contact… or so they thought. The moment Shawn arrived in Hong Kong, his phone was lost.

Abbey waited patiently since Shawn promised to keep in contact with her, little did she know that his means of communication was somewhere in Hong Kong. Then, it wasn’t until a few days later in a Facebook message, that Abbey learned what happened. To make it up to her, Shawn asked Abbey on their first date to a Blackhawks game as soon as he returned from his work trip. From that point on, their love story was sealed.

The Proposal

With your partner, it is not uncommon to develop your own traditions. For Abbey and Shawn, they visit Three Lakes, Wisconsin every summer for a few weeks. One of their favorite places to visit might I add. Here is where Shawn’s great aunt and uncle have a property, where they were staying. This is important to the story! They spent that morning on August 13th, 2021 paddleboarding, something that they do every time while they are at Three Lakes. It wasn’t until they got back to the docks where Shawn whispered sweet words to Abbey before dropping to one knee and proposing.

As they walked back to the house, Abbey’s parents were there waiting to congratulate them. Surprisingly as they walked back up to their home, was a big group of friends who drove from Chicago to surprise Abbey and celebrate this new journey. Afterward, they all went to a Friday night fish fry to celebrate. It was the perfect moment for both Abbey and Shawn and thus, the wedding planning shortly began.

For Abbey and Shawn’s wedding day, they really wanted to focus on capturing their love in an authentic and genuine way. First, Abbey and her bridesmaids got ready at the Viceroy Chicago Hotel before meeting up with Shawn and his groomsmen at The Duck Inn. The theme for their wedding day surrounded dark emerald greens, golds, and burgundy with pops of fuchsia and peaches. It was the perfect combination of dark and moody with pops of color, that tied perfectly with their wedding venue.
