One of the best parts of my job is that I get to travel all around the world. Capturing love stories for those wildly in love. It’s safe to say that I have gotten to see some pretty cool places throughout the years. For this love story, we’re taking a drive from my lovely home in Chicago, to meet Sandra & Brandon for their Fall engagement photos in Michigan!
The Love Story
Brandon and Sandra had been together for about 3 years. They met through a friend one summer and kept bumping into each other and as you could guess…fate took its course! The two recently had their wedding this past summer in Wisconsin by Lake Geneva, so if you want to read all about that click here! Of course, I’m late to the game posting these engagement photos, but it was giving me all the Fall vibes so better late than never!
Fall Engagement Photos in Michigan
We began their engagement session at The Butler as our meeting spot. The Butler is right near a marina looking over Kalamazoo Lake. So naturally, we had to snag this opportunity to get some great water views. They really wanted something a bit more casual for their engagement photos, so that’s exactly what we did! After, we made our way over to the Saugatuck Dunes State Park. Hugging the shoreline of Lake Michigan, this state park is the perfect getaway for anyone looking for great views. Sandra and Brandon did a quick outfit change and it was off to twirling, dancing, and skipping through the sand. Which btw… is VERY hard to do. We ended the session so excited with how things went and I was super pumped to deliver their gallery to them (which they loved by the way *wink wink*).
Engagement Photos: What to Wear to your Engagement Session?
So when it comes to taking your engagement photos, the number one thing I get asked is “what do I wear?”. While that may seem like something simple, you would be surprised how hard it is to coordinate complimenting outfits. You never want your outfits to take away from the photos or feel overbearing when really, you’re trying to celebrate this huge milestone! My number one rule, if you can’t find things to wear, is always go neutral. Neutrals go together like peanut butter and jelly and are essentially foolproof. Whites, creams, browns, blacks, tan – all of these can be the magic ingredients to making your engagement photos turn out spectacular every time.
Remember: Even though it is your engagement session, wear clothes that YOU feel comfortable in. I want to make sure that you look and feel your best on such a beautiful occasion. Never feel the need to “dress up” more than you have to just for the sake of these photos. The best outfit you can wear is confidence.
Psst… if you loved these Fall Engagement Photos in Michigan, then you’re going to love this Chicago Engagement at Humboldt Park.
