The Love Story

Maggie and Dave are like star-crossed lovers just waiting to meet. It was one day that Maggie noticed Dave across the crowded break room, and just 2 years later they started dating. Funny enough, I was a witness to the proposal! It was a mutual proposal at Promontory Point in Hyde Park and it couldn’t have been more perfect. After some wedding planning, the day finally arrived for Maggie and Dave’s gorgeous summer wedding at the Snowy Range Lodge in Wyoming.

Getting Ready & The First Look

We started off the morning with both Maggie and Dave getting ready. These are some of my favorite moments because it is the start of such an important and special day for my couples. I love being able to document this process of getting ready because it’s not only an emotional rollercoaster (tears may or may not be shed), but it can be an empowering one as well. Remember, you’re getting married to a person you LOVE. Embrace it in all of its glory!

After getting ready, it was then time for the first look. As much as I RAVE about how much I love first looks, I don’t think you understand how powerful they can be. Not only in helping you with those pre-wedding day nerves, but it’s also a moment for you to have some alone time with your partner. Sometimes weddings (especially with a large guest count) can get very hectic and sometimes overwhelming, very quickly. There may be moments where you need to just have some alone time and remember WHY you’re here in the first place. THAT is what the first look is for. To give you and your partner that opportunity to recollect and connect. With that being said, Maggie and Dave’s first look was nothing less than beautiful and touching and all of the lovey-dovey goodness.

Snowy Range Lodge Wyoming Wedding

Maggie and Dave got married at St. Alban’s Chapel in Centennial, Wyoming. Surrounded by gorgeous greenery and trees that stretch on for miles, this venue was a nature lover’s absolute dream. The reason that this venue was so special was growing up, Maggie used to go to St. Alban’s Chapel in the summer while staying at her family’s log cabin. She instantly fell in love with the scenery, high mountains, and snow-capped peaks behind the open-air chapel. After bringing Dave to the cabin for the first time, he felt the same way. It even reminded him of his family home back in Idaho! While they knew a church wasn’t for them, the concept of an outdoor chapel was absolutely perfect!

Inspired by the gorgeous scenery of the snowy range mountains, both Maggie and Dave really wanted to tie that into their wedding decor. Maggie’s bouquet was meant to be simple and full of wildflowers, while the tables were set with pine disks as blasters and rust-colored napkins. They incorporated wildflowers as centerpieces and a sprig of pine at every plate. Their main goal was to have simple decor that blended in and I think they achieved that effortlessly.

Wyoming Wedding Ceremony

Of course, the ceremony was incredible, which was to be expected. Accompanied by such beautiful scenery and nature, M+D were surrounded by their loved ones which made the day so incredibly special. Dave actually had his Uncle Doug, who is the lead singer of the band Built to Spill, sing during their ceremony. It was such a sweet moment they wanted to have on their wedding day, and it was just beautiful. They had a ceremony completely unique to them, which I absolutely loved! Your wedding day is all about yours, so you can forget about “what you should do” and start thinking about what you WANT to do.

Bride & Groom Wedding Portraits

You didn’t think we’d forget to talk about portraits, did you? As you could guess, we of course had to soak up what Mother Nature gave to us so off to the pine-filled forest we went. Honestly, it felt as if we should have been in a fairytale with how beautiful everything was. The only thing that was really missing was Snow White whistling for all of the forest creatures (jk..). Not too far from the chapel were Mirror Lake and Lake Marie which made for absolutely gorgeous background views for their wedding day portraits. All in all, the portraits, scenery, and absolutely STUNNING bride and groom made for some incredibly breathtaking portraits.

Wedding Reception

After their beautiful ceremony, it was then time for the reception! Maggie and Dave held their reception at the Snowy Range Lodge. Similar to their ceremony, this reception was decked out with beautiful decor and truly fit the theme that they were aiming for. It felt very natural and put together and really set the standard for an amazing mountain wedding. Remember how I said Dave’s uncle sang during the ceremony? Well he actually played his guitar and sang during M+D’s first dance as well! It was the sweetest moment ever… anybody have a kleenex? We ended the night with a beautiful dance with Maggie + Dave and then me and my camera headed home.

Now I know I say this a lot, but from the bottom of my heart, I am so honored to be here doing what I love. Capturing unique love stories like Maggie and Dave’s is one of the many reasons why I love what I do and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Congratulations M+D – cheers!!
