Wisconsin Countryside Wedding

One of the many aspects of my job that I love is being able to travel anywhere in the world to capture love. Love is universal and no matter where you are you can find it. For this love story, while I’m not jetting off to Paris (if someone is, please invite me) I am heading to the countryside of Wisconsin to capture Margo & Kevin’s Wisconsin Countryside Wedding.

Margo & Kevin’s Love Story

Through the wonders of technology and social media, Margo and Kevin met over Bumble, a popular dating app. They agreed to go on a first date to a bar in River North, Chicago, and hit it off almost instantaneously. After keeping in touch, things were going so well that even Margo’s sister predicted that they would get married. Fun fact: she was right. Margo and Kevin continued to date and their bond only grew stronger.

After spending several months stuck in quarantine, they both decided to take a trip up to Lake Geneva since things slowly started opening back up. Before their dinner plans, Kevin invited Margo on a walk to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Little did Margo know that this walk would soon change her entire life. On this walk they found themselves arriving at a secluded spot on top of a hill. That is where Kevin popped the question. They both were in immense shock and can’t really remember what each other said. The outcome however was a ring on Margo’s finger and grins from ear to ear. They headed back for their dinner where they had lots of complimentary drinks and well wishes from the restaurant and other customers. Their engagement celebration ended with live music and a bonfire at their hotel.

Getting Ready

It was a gorgeous Summer day in Wisconsin and it was time to tackle the day. We started off with Margo getting ready with all of her bridesmaids. Her bridesmaids wore these gorgeous matching floral robes and truly all of them looked so breathtakingly beautiful. After slipping into her gorgeous dress and putting the final touches on her look, Margo was ready to take on the day. While the bridal party was finishing up getting ready, Kevin was getting ready not that far. He and his groomsmen were enjoying a few drinks and making sure to relax before all of the wedding day craziness.

Tip: This is why many photographers may recommend having a second photographer on your wedding day. Unfortunately, many of us have not developed the skills of teleportation and can’t be in two places at once. Having a second photographer allows us to be able to document every moment of your day and not miss anything! So if there are specific moment that is going to be happening simultaneously with another one, a second photographer may be a great option!

The First Look(s)

Now whenever I work with my couples, I always like to send out a pre-wedding day questionnaire. It essentially helps me learn a little bit more about what they’re looking for in their wedding day coverage. What moments they would like captured, what kind of story they want to be told, and making sure that everything is picture-perfect on the day of the wedding. One of the important moments that Margo wanted to document was the first look. The first look is a time when either a parent/guardian/wedding party/partner can see you in your wedding attire for the first time. Oftentimes these moments are incredibly intimate & emotional but are a great memory to capture. Margo chose to do a first look with not only her father but with Kevin as well.

As soon as Margo’s father walked through the door and laid eyes on his gorgeous daughter, the waterworks came pouring. I may or may not have shed a few tears, but hey it’s hard when you have such special moments like these! It’s moments like these that are truly so special and precious and I can’t believe I get to capture them. Once finished, it was time for Margo and me to head outside and meet up with Kevin for their first look. While the anticipation was building, I was making sure everything was prepped and ready to catch any tear, laugh, and giggle. Of course, Kevin’s reaction was as one could expect and he was in utter shock at the beautiful bride-to-be. We shared a few glances and laughs before diving right into their portraits.

Wedding Day Portraits

Warning! If you look through these photos and your jaw drops from all of the beauty, I am NOT responsible. Okay.. I may be a bit dramatic here but do you blame me? Margo and Kevin got married at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is located on 1,300 acres in the woodlands of Lake Geneva, WI and is the ultimate getaway for really any couple. You are filled with so many different scenic views, golf courses, ski hills, and is one of the perfect wedding venues in Wisconsin. The landscaping on the resort is well maintained and so beautiful, so using that to our advantage was a MUST. We walked around the resort a bit and made sure to get some scenic views as well as some photos with all of the gorgeous greenery. We were having so much fun, that before we knew it was time to head back for their ceremony!

Wisconsin Countryside Wedding

At the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, there are many different wedding venues. All of them have gorgeous countryside views and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. For Margo & Kevin’s Wisconsin wedding ceremony, they had it at The Chalet. This specific wedding venue has a lot of rustic features and scenic countryside views which really took on the rustic-chic vibes that Margo & Kevin were looking for on their wedding day. Upon walking into the ceremony, you were greeted by all of their wedding guests & a beautiful floral arch. Margo & Kevin stuck to a sunset palette with both their wedding florals & bridesmaids’ dresses. The beautiful vibrant colors really made such a statement and I fell absolutely in love!

Kevin waited for Margo as she and her dad walked down the aisle. Typically whenever we are building out your wedding day timeline prior to your wedding day, we will allot 30 minutes for the ceremony. Ceremonies don’t usually take that long and so they can typically happen within a blink of an eye. Before we knew it, Margo and Kevin were exchanging vows and rings and having their first kiss as husband and wife! Woot woot!

Wedding Reception

Lucky for us, the ceremony spot was just a quick turnaround time for all of us to head back in for the reception! The open space and decor were just next level amazing and I can’t believe how beautiful it all came together. The same sunset color palette was carried into the reception and used in the florals on the chandelier. We stepped out for a few quick sunset portraits and the sunset was UNBELIEVABLE. It felt like we were in a movie. Back inside, Margo & Kevin even had light-up initials that lit up the entire dance floor as they did their first dance together. We finished off the night with some cake cutting before opening up the dance floor for the ultimate dance party. Let’s give a round of applause for the lucky couple and how beautiful their Wisconsin countryside wedding was – YASSSS.
