Michigan Wedding at Stonegate Manor

February 21, 2022

If you remember, a few months back I blogged Phebe & Danny’s absolutely gorgeous engagement session at Humboldt Park. If you haven’t yet read that, I highly encourage you to because their engagement photos are just as beautiful as their wedding. To read it, click here! For this blog I thought it was only fitting to showcase this beautiful Michigan Wedding at Stonegate Manor but be warned… your eyes may not get off the page.

Michigan Wedding at Stonegate Manor

If you’re someone wondering “where to get married in Michigan?” well have no fear – I have the perfect location! Phebe and Danny got married at this beautiful Michigan wedding venue, Stonegate Manor. This wedding venue holds so much charm and elegance and is the perfect getaway for any couple. In the middle of Michigan’s wine country, this manor is the perfect location for couples looking for something unique for their wedding day. The estate was founded in the 1800s and brings you back to a time of refinement, sophistication and really holds so much character. It’s also located near a ton of beaches, wineries and breweries so it seemingly is the perfect wedding getaway as well!

Bride & Groom Getting Ready

We started off the day with Phebe getting ready in the Bridal Suite at Stonegate Manor. The bridal suite is actually located in the manor’s newly renovated 19th-century carriage house. It has so much vintage charm and has so much life that it truly is the perfect getting-ready location.

Wedding Day Tip: I always recommend gathering the items that you want in your detail shots beforehand. That way when I arrive, I can begin taking photos while you’re finishing up getting ready! Things like steaming your wedding dress from wrinkles, putting jewelry, invitations, vows, and love notes in a box also help keep everything organized!

After Phebe was done with the final touches of her hair & makeup (shoutout Buk Weddings), she slipped into the most gorgeous off the shoulder dress. Filled with so much lace detail, this dress was one you see in a fairytale and it truly did look like that on Phebe. Honestly my mind was blown when I saw her put it on and it definitely gave off that “wow” factor.

First Look & Portraits

Once everyone has finished getting ready, Phebe and Danny wanted to do their first look. Now you all know how much I love first looks, so I’m not going to go any more in-depth but… I LOVE first looks. Just something about it makes it so special and intimate and truly lights my soul on fire. The grounds of Stonegate Manor really speak for itself so we walked out to a clearing where we saw Danny waiting for the big reveal. Of course, the anticipation has built up until this point to the reactions are nothing short of amazing & beautiful.

Since Stonegate Manor has so much natural beauty, we decided to walk around the grounds for their wedding portraits. You may notice that one of the main things I like to capture in my photography are candid and documentary-style photos. I love when my couples are able to look back and remember genuine feelings and reactions. Remember what they were feeling in one specific moment. Throughout all of what I do I don’t always try to capture the prim & proper, the “perfect” and more so the real.

The Fairy Garden Wedding Ceremony

Stonegate Manor has a few different locations on the property where you can have your ceremony. For Phebe and Danny, having an outdoor ceremony space was incredibly important to them. As well as incorporating a lot of nature and greenery as well! The Fairy Garden where they had their ceremony is tucked away in a gorgeous forest clearing surrounded by gorgeous trees and foliage. It really embodied all that they were looking for in a ceremony and really solidifying those fairytale type vibes. The ceremony was so emotional and heartfelt and there were definitely a lot of tears flowing. This can really only mean one thing… there was a whole lotta love in the air!

The Reception

The ceremony was over, and we moved right into the reception. During the reception is where many couples will choose to do speeches, first dances or really whatever they want on their wedding day! While there are many different traditions and ways of planning your wedding, remember at the end of the day it’s all about YOU! Do what makes you happy and if that means not doing speeches, or skipping first dances – DO IT! Never let anybody else set the expectations for your wedding day and do what you feel is right. The rest will all fall into place! For Phebe and Danny they decided to stick to a lot of traditions such as first dances, cake cutting and speeches. We ended the night with a good ol’ fashion dance party and the rest was history.

I had such an amazing time capturing these moments for Phebe and Danny and I hope you equally had an amazing time reading about their story. If you loved this Michigan Wedding at Stonegate Manor as much as I did, then you’re going to love this Snowy Range Lodge Wyoming Wedding.
